Roman Catholic Woman Bishop Andrea Johnson Confirms Seven in Florida

On Sunday June 5th, 2016 Bishop Andrea Johnson of Roman Catholic Womenpriests-USA-East presides at the Confirmation of seven at the Good Shepherd Inclusive Catholic Community in Fort Myers, Florida. Pastors Judy Beaumont, RCWP and Judy Lee, RCWP and Maria Teresa Sanchez, RCWP present and also bless the candidates.

 The Confirmands are: Deborah Carey and her daughter Joelle Hope White; Jolinda Harmon and her grandson Quayschaun John Crews; Brenda Jean Cummings;Gaspare Randazzo ;and Patricia Scorsone. The Sponsors are respectively: Judy Alves; Harry Lee Peter Gary and Joseph and Pearl Cudjoe; Patricia Byrne; Hank Tessandori and Marina Teresa Sanchez.

What a beautiful group of people whose lives have been transformed by our loving Christ. They are eager to signify their love of Christ and to renew the promises of their baptism. Our Gospel for the day is Luke 7:11-17 and each one could tell the story of their response to Jesus’ call: “I tell you arise”.  Each one from the youngest to the oldest is filled with love and compassion for others and await “sealing the deal” with oil and receiving more fully the gifts of the Holy Spirit.    Bishop Andrea leads us in the laying on of hands and the congregation extends their hands afterward as well. “Jolinda, be sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit” (picture below).

And afterward others in the congregation gather around Bishop Andrea and there are opportunities for Confirmation photos with her.

We also celebrated Marcella Randazzo’s graduation from Middle School and her acceptance into a special Arts Program at Cypress Lake High; and we recognized the 12th Birthday of Aloriyah Jackson. What a holy and special day.

We are thankful to Bishop Andrea for being with us and holding Confirmation on this

special day. The congregation sings: “This is the day that our God has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it”. Amen!
